“My name is Lupita. I am 14 years old, almost 15, and I am currently attending High School. In my free time I like to play basketball, watch movies and TV, hang out with my friends, talk on the phone, use the computer, and my number one thing is that I like music and my boyfriend that I love.

I am currently in a program called Mariposa’s Art. In this program we teach art to little kids at two different Elementary Schools. What I like most about coming to the program is teaching and my group, also including our great managers, Adrian and Niralli, they are so fun. I like on Mondays when we’re all together and we make the lesson plan, also we work on our own art project. I really enjoyed doing my community hours in this.

I think that my teachers are awesome because not only do Adrian and Niralli just teach us, they make it really fun. I think that they did a great job at training us. They really helped me, I have more confidence now and I really learned from them. I would’ve never, but never imagined I was going to be doing this but I’m glad I joined Mariposa's Art, and doing this after-school three days a week. I wouldn’t trade it to do anything else.

I have really grown a lot over the year. I mean I would never ever talk in my classes and if I had to talk in front of others I would be so embarrassed. Now in all of my classes I always go up in front of the class to solve the problems, and I’m always talking in my English class. I’m always talking out loud with the teacher. I’m not embarrassed to nothing no more thanks to Art Teach.

An awesome experience that I’ve had in Art Teach would be on Mondays when the whole group unites, because we just have the best moments and always make each other laugh. I also like to hear the stories that Niralli and Adrian tell us, they are really funny.

You guys should really keep Mariposa’s Art because we learn so much from it, and we build up so much confidence we never thought possible. I think it’s important for people to know that they have talent and they could do amazing art. Also it helps us a lot.”
